The sugar museum takes you four centuries back when Mauritius grew sugar cane on large scale, produced one of the best sugars, with the colour of gold. Festivals that will give you the opportunity to see the true colours of the Mauritian culture and its diversity, games and other activities for the more adventurous ones as well as cultural shows for the fans of music and arts!

HorseracingEnjoy of the best horse racing experiences in Mauritius at the Champs de Mars horse race track! The horseracing season started today Saturday 4th April and will carry on till Sunday 6th December 2009, so make sure you add a day at the races when you plan your holidays!

Keep in mind that races take place on weekends, and its an experience not to be missed!

You should know that the Champs de Mars Racecourse was the first racecourse in the Southern Hemisphere when it was opened by Colonel Draper in 1812 and second in the world. It is world renowned for its magnificent race track which is almost circular in shape so you can enjoy a great view wherever you are!

Every year, horses are imported from all parts of the world, namely from South Africa, England and Australia, and allocated to the various stables. Jockeys come from all parts of the world. Many of the well known Australian jockeys have had a stint in Mauritius. Betting is now based on the Australian betting systems.
